COVID-19 Preparedness List


This is by no means a complete or prescriptive list. It’s what I’ve prepped with. Full disclosure too: I’m really into this stuff (probably the Eagle Scout in me coming out here). Please be prepared and consider your elderly neighbors and what they might need in this time as well. I’ll be updating this list, so if you see something that’s missing here, please don’t hesitate to let me know and I’ll add it. 


Cleaning and Home Hygiene
  • Paper towels

  • Home Humidifier


Hydration
  • Bottled water (1 gallon per person per day, which equates to 7.5 bottles per day per person or 2 cases per week per person)
  • 10-50 gallons of water in stored containers
  • Pedialyte / Gatorade
  • Tomato Juice
  • Coffee (canned)
  • Oat or Almond milk (or any non-perishable milk option)
  • Creamer


Public Prevention
  • 3 boxes of n95 masks
  • Gloves


Personal Sanitation / Hygiene
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Hand sanitizer with alcohol solution of at least 70% alcohol.
  • Dish Detergent
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Tissues
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Cleanser
  • Towelettes
  • Toilet Paper
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Heavy Duty Garbage Bags
 
Foods
  • Non-perishable food for at least three days.
  • Food Boxes / Service Subscriptions by trusted / clean source
  • Oatmeal
  • Eggs (farm raised lasts longer)
  • Frozen foods (like Great Harvest) 
  • Peanut butter / jelly
  • Potatoes
  • Pasta + Sauce 
  • Lentils, black beans, garbanzos, refried beans

Documentation
All of these items should be stored in a portable fire and waterproof encasement:

  • Copy of Driver License
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of Residence
  • Insurance Policies, wills, deeds, birth and marriage certificates, tax records, medical records, family pictures, and anything that is precious to you.



Entertainment & Expression
Consider what happens if the internet goes down for extended periods of time, or is throttled by unexpected new use from at-home working.

  • Books you’ve been wanting to read
  • Journal + Pens
  • Downloaded episodes of shows, movies, etc
  • Art Supplies for 14 days of expression
  • Film stocked and fully-charged batteries for documentation of whatever comes next.


Artworks
And to my artist friends, consider preparing your printed and physical works, film, negatives, and hard drives for secured storage (i.e. wrapped in heavy duty saran, styro, water +fireproofed and pallet secured). This is only in the event of personal evacuation, hospitalization and looters.
