Concept

We all wish to be eternally young. But, there is a danger in nostalgia and, in this video, our villains distort their desire to experience youthful ephemera by extracting vitality from young victims. Who knows how many times they've done this...but this time is just one too many. If I were to make a philosophical statement about this piece, it would be that we can never fully relive a moment, so we might as well experience it the first time by living life all the way in, so keep your eyes open...especially for brain-sucking cabals.

To realize this strange vision I hand-crafted the vitality extraction helmet and sourced a leatherist from Lithuania to stitch the wardrobe for our subject.

For the oscilliscope, I wanted something that could be easily manipulated to bend and twist with the music, so I created a program in Touchdesigner and syned with over 20 parameters via MIDI controller.

While the preproduction of this project was months in the making we shot everything in one day on location in Los Angeles, California.

Hyperphoria was released in conjunction with SHSHA’s EP release of the same name. The album was featured on numerous Spotify playlists and the music video was featured on numerous world outlets.
